Karren Brady recalls being 'slung out' of Buckingham Palace after outstaying her welcome

The Apprentice star Karren Brady revealed she was 'slung out' of Buckingham Palace after she 'outstayed her welcome'.

The vice-chairman of West Ham United opened up about the 'multiple dinners, lunches, banquets and drinks' she had with the late monarch at the palace.

Karren said she met Queen Elizabeth II on 'many occasions' following her death last week.

She explained how the Queen was shocked by everything she had achieved when they were going around introducing people to the Queen.

The Queen asked Karren: "How on earth do you do all that?"

To which Karren responded: "Like you, Ma’am, I’m a working mother — and, as Margaret [Thatcher] said, ‘If you want something said ask a man, and if you want something done ask a woman’."

According to Karren, the Queen gave a 'wry smile' and she felt 'connected' to the monarch at that moment.

It was shortly after that Karren was 'slung out' of the palace.

"The lunch was due to finish at 2pm but didn’t end until 3pm, by which time she told us we had to leave — I have to admit, I’ve been slung out of worse places," she wrote in her column for The Sun.

She recalled in her column how she first met Queen Elizabeth II in 2004, and was also among 100 other women for the Women of Achievement Lunch.

Following her death, stars around the world took to social media to reminisce about meeting her.

Dolly Parton said she had the 'honour' of performing for the late Queen.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “I had the honour of meeting and performing for Queen Elizabeth II on my trip to London in 1977.

"She carried herself with grace and strength her entire life.

“May she Rest In Peace. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. Love, Dolly.”

Meanwhile, Motown legend Diana Ross paid her respects to the inspirational great-grandmother.

She shared a video of herself at the Royal Variety Performance with the caption: “Thank You” to Her Majesty, The Queen. She devoted her life to her country and to the service of others. I am happy I was able to say thank you to Her Majesty at this year’s Platinum Jubilee. With love and condolences to all of her family, we all celebrate her life."
