Karnataka’s former CM Siddaramaiah to visit family of contractor who ended his life

contractor death

Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah will be visiting the house of Santosh Patil, a contractor, BJP leader and national secretary of Hindu Yuva Vahini, who was found dead in Udupi a few months after accusing Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa of corruption.

Mr. Siddaramaiah will be accompanied by senior Congress leaders, including Yemakanmardi MLA Satish Jarkiholi, party sources said on April 13.

Congress leaders have been demanding the resignation of Mr. Eshwarappa to ‘ensure a proper investigation’.

In the morning, Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani had visited the Patil family. Later, he told journalists that he had come in his personal capacity and not as a representative of the Karnataka Government.

Mr. Nirani said that Santosh Patil’s relatives had requested him to help the contractor’s wife Jayashree Patil secure a government job. “I will speak to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai about it,” he said.

“The BJP high command may have instructed Mr. Eshwarappa to resign, but I don’t have any information,” he said.
