BENGALURU: The CID has started investigation into irregularities in the police sub-inspector (PSI) written exam in which BJP women's wing leader Divya Hagaragi is wanted and is untraceable for the past four days.
Her husband Rajesh Hagaragi, who was not allegedly cooperating with the police and had helped some of the accused in the case escape, was arrested on Sunday and produced in court. A CID team, led by SP Raghavendra Hegde, deputy SPs Shankaragouda Patil and Prakash Rathod, searched the Hagaragis' home.
The PSI written exam was held in October 2021 for 545 posts. There are allegations that some candidates forged the OMR answersheets sheets. At the centre of the exam scam is Jnana Jyothi English Medium School, one of the exam centres where irregularities were reported. Divya is the president of the institution.
Police have arrested four candidates and three invigilators of the centre.
Home minister Araga Jnanendra has clarified that he has no links with any accused named in the police sub-inspector recruitment exam scam. He said following a request, he had visited the home of a BJP worker, who is now accused in the scam. There have been allegations that Jnanendra visited the house of BJP women's wing leader Divya Hagaragi, who is wanted by the CID. "After I got a whiff of the scam, I verified the documents and discussed it with the CM, which led the government to order a CID probe. An institution in Kalaburagi is suspected to be involved," he said.
