Karim Benzema may not be fit to face Celtic as the Hoops make the trip to Spain to face Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The Ballon d'Or winner has been forced to sit out a number of matches recently due to injury. But he was hoping to make his comeback to Carlo Ancelotti's squad as they take on Girona on Sunday afternoon. However, his return has been delayed as the Real boss confirmed the Frenchman is not quite "100 per cent" yet. He as been missing from team training and sat out the last two matches against Sevilla and RB Leipzig due to ongoing ‘muscle fatigue'.
Ange Postecoglou 's men make the trip midweek as they hunt for their first Champions League group stage win in the last game of their campaign. The Parkhead outfit are rooted to the bottom of the Group F table which means they will bring their European season to a close at the Santiago Bernabeu in midweek. And despite anything bar last place being impossible, Celtic will still be looking to cause an upset on their travels.
And it could be made just a tad easier if Benzema is forced to watch on from the stand. Confirming the star's absence ahead of the La Liga clash on Sunday, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said: "We did tests and it all went well, so he doesn't have a problem, but he doesn't feel comfortable yet. We need to keep in mind the player's feeling. He still doesn't feel 100 per cent."
The coach also confirmed, though, that Luka Modric, Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde, Mariano and Rodrygo will all be available despite recent fitness issues.
