Karen's Diner restaurant with rude staff and appalling service to hold pop-up events in Newcastle

It's a bizarre dining experience where customers can expect terrible service and rude staff.

Australian chain Karen's Diner has been a hit around the world for its straight-talking approach that sees servers go out of their way to be insulting to customers. And now it is set to hold two pop-up events in Newcastle this February as part of a UK tour.

The 'Karen's On Tour' events will take place in the city on Saturday, February 4, and Sunday, February 5, at 20 Collingwood Street.

Tickets are on sale now, but diners are being warned that it's definitely not one for the faint-hearted. However, those brave enough to give it a try have been promised a night they won't forget.

Featuring bottomless pizza, bottomless prosecco and games, Karen's Diner bosses say that customers will be "greeted and waited upon by rude waiters who in return are expecting you to give it full Karen."

A statement on the Karen's Diner booking page said: "We're coming to town on tour and well if y'all show up in force we'll either come as a long term pop-up or simply just stay put for a while until we've insulted everyone in your city."

It continued: "A place where you can complain until the cows come home because we literally don't care.

"You can expect good food, good fun and a dining experience like you've never had before. Let us know if it's your birthday, if your name is Karen, and for the love of Karen don't ask to speak to the manager."

Although it won't be everyone's cup of tea, a spin-off event called 'Rude' has already proven popular with Geordies when it was held at The Turbinia, Fossway, last month.

Organiser Jeremy Wade, who owns the popular wood-fried pizza truck, Truly Madly Pizza, was inspired to host an event after seeing the growing popularity of restaurants with the cheeky concept in America and Australia.
