Karen Gillan got so drunk filming her new movie, she ended up crawling to her hotel bedroom.
The Inverness-born former Dr Who actress exterminated a few bevvies after shooting gruelling fight scenes for Netflix film Gunpowder Milkshake.
Karen said there was a boozy bond between the female all-star cast, which includes Angela Bassett, 62, Lena Headey, 47, Michelle Yeoh, 58, and Carla Gugino, 49.
Avengers actress Karen said: “We were kicking ass all day and we needed to let our hair down a little bit. There was one night we went to the hotel bar and we all had wine and then, at one point, we were crawling down the hotel corridor.
“I just keep imagining if someone had walked out of their door and seen all those actresses crawling towards them.
“I think we were making silly videos, which is something that we did a lot. I don’t know what it was for or why we were doing it but it’s nice to let loose and do the things that everybody else does.
“I’m assuming everybody crawls down corridors, right?”
Marvel star Karen, 33, is the UK’s most bankable box office actress of the last decade thanks to a string of hit movies. But she admitted feeling intimidated filming alongside Golden Globe winner Bassett, Game Of Thrones star Headey and Bond martial arts expert Yeoh.
Karen, who headed to Hollywood after leaving the Tardis in 2013, said: “I was pretty starstruck. But we had a really good time. We had wine when we had downtime and me and Lena were making ridiculous videos for Instagram to the point where they were like, ‘Please stop. You’re making too much noise and we’re trying to shoot.’
“As violent as it was, we were having the biggest laugh ever.”
Karen has a long list of action film roles, including Avengers, Thor and Guardians Of The Galaxy. But she admitted her role as female assassin Scarlet in Gunpowder Milkshake was her most demanding to date.
She said: “This was definitely the most challenging role that I’ve taken on physically. This was just non-stop action from start to finish.
“It’s really intricate fighting with all sorts of weapons I’ve never even heard of before.”
Karen spent most of last year filming the new Thor film Love And Thunder in Australia.
But she admitted it felt weird filming alongside Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt and Christian Bale during Covid.
She added: “We had this cast dinner before we started filming and everyone was like, ‘I don’t know how to interact with you.’ Everyone was socially anxious. I guess we didn’t know how much this pandemic affected us.”
