Kareem Jackson comments on hit that injured Jakobi Meyers

After catching eight passes and scoring two touchdowns against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Jakobi Meyers’ ninth catch proved to be costly.

Meyers went over the middle on 3rd-and-7 late in the fourth quarter and hauled in a pass from Las Vegas quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo before going to the ground and being hit in the head area by Broncos safety Kareem Jackson.

Meyers stayed down on the field for a few moments before being helped off by trainers. After the game, Jackson spoke about the injury.

“I just want to say I hope he’s all right,” the safety said, via Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. “Obviously, we don’t play this game to hurt guys. It’s a tough sport we play. … Unfortunately stuff like that happens. Definitely sending my thoughts and prayers to him.”

The play proved to be a pivotal moment in the game. Jackson was penalized for unnecessary roughness, a 15-yard penalty that gave the Raiders a first down instead of Las Vegas facing 4th-and-short near midfield.

With a first down, the Raiders went on to run out the clock instead of punting, securing a one-point victory.
