A new karaoke bar in Newcastle is celebrating its opening with party nights this week offering a chance for budding pop stars to win £2,000 of vouchers.
The Karaoke Kave, which is next door to the Holy Hobo in Jesmond, is the latest addition to the social scene from the Apartment Group whose portfolio also includes the adjacent As You Like It. And to celebrate its launch week it has £2,000 of vouchers up for grabs to those whose performances impress the most.
Customers are invited to take part in the competition and "embrace the fun, put on show and sing along to their favourite numbers" - but they may have a tough audience to please as the voting will take place on social media.

To help show off performance at their best, the bar also has a backstage dressing-room where customers can pick out their favourite props to help transform into the likes of a Spice Girl or Tina Turner. The bar, in the ThreeSixty complex area, is described as an intimate, cosy cave with a stage and sparkly backdrop.
Rachelle Jacques, business development manager at Apartment Group, said: "We thrive off creating fun customer experiences and what better way to let your hair down than with some karaoke. This is the first venue of its kind in Jesmond and from the response so far it looks like people are really loving it."
With Holy Hobo being a hit with students, the hope is that the Karaoke Kave will prove equally popular. It will be open daily from 7pm until 2am and entry is free.
During its opening week, best performances - as voted for by the public on their social media platforms - will be in with a chance of winning £2,000 of Apartment Group vouchers. In between customers' performances, the bar is promising a soundtrack of cheesy pop classics from resident DJs and more prizes for performances.
