Karamoko Dembele targets post Celtic 'explosion' as he lifts lid on Stade Brest transfer

Departing Karamoko Dembele says French football won't know what's hit it as he wants to bring his "explosive" game to Stade Brest.

The 19-year-old winger leaves Celtic on a free transfer after failing to force his way into Ange Postecoglou 's first-team plans at Parkhead. He had long been one of the most exciting talents in the academy but that didn't translate into significant senior game-time, with injuries hampering his progress.

The youngster made waves back in 2016 when he played for the Celtic Under-20 side despite being just 13 years old. But six years later, he leaves having made just ten senior appearances - although did score against St Johnstone in a cameo in May last year.

Dembele has been capped by Scotland and England at various youth levels and now heads to France looking to force his way into the Brest team and pick up some much needed senior experience. Speaking after the move, Dembele revealed manager Greg Lorenzi sold him on the switch, and is hoping to "explode" onto the scene.

He said: “I came to Brest because I saw that the project presented by Greg Lorenzi was good. It's something that suits me and I think I can have some playing time here. It was a great opportunity that presented itself to me and it interested me.”

“I'm very explosive, I like to have fun and give it to the fans and. I like to score and win."

Dembele pens a four-year deal and will wear the No.18 shirt for Brest, who finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season and have ambitions of kicking on and qualifying for Europe this term. Dembele is the latest promising youngster to sign for them after right-back Noah Fadiga arrives from Heracles earlier in the window.
