Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon reportedly "did not take kindly" to Karamoko Dembele 's appeal for more game time last season.
The 19-year-old is a looming free agent and has struggled to live up to the incredible hype that surrounded him after making his reserve team debut at the aged only 13.
He is back in the mix under Ange Postecoglou after a serious ankle injury left him on the shelf for the first half of the campaign.
But The Athletic report he didn't get the answer he wanted last season when he chapped on Lennon 's door in the search for more opportunities.
They state Dembele sought out his manager after being an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock in August 2020, a week after featuring against Hamilton.
"Dembele knocked on manager Neil Lennon's door and told him he believed he should be starting more games," they said. "Lennon did not take kindly to a 17-year-old telling him how to do his job."
The winger would only feature one more time before the Irishman's departure in February 2021.
And that was an 11-minute cameo against Hibs when the first team squad was decimated by absentees after Chris Jullien 's positive Covid test during the ill-fated winter break to Dubai.
Dembele faces a major decision in the summer as could be set to leave Parkhead with no new contract in place.
However, he has found himself among the first team squad in recent weeks and has made a pair of substitute appearances against St Mirren and Dundee United in recent weeks.
