Lucknow: Kapil Sibal on Wednesday filed his nomination in Lucknow with support of Samajwadi Party for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav was also present with Kapil Sibal during the nomination.
After filing a nomination for Rajya Sabha elections, former Union Minister Kapil said, "I had tendered my resignation from the Congress party on 16th May."
It is important to be an independent voice. While staying in Opposition we want to create an alliance so that we can oppose the Modi govt, he added.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh said that Kapil Sibal is a senior lawyer. He has presented his opinions well in the Parliament. We hope he'll present opinions of both SP as well as himself.
SP chief announced that two more candidates from the Party to contest the Rajya Sabha elections and name will be declared soon.
