The Gold Digger rapper took to Instagram to reveal his eleventh studio album will not be released on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon or YouTube, referencing the small profit artists make on their music.
Donda 2, which is set to be released on February 22, can be listened to via Kanye’s Stem Player – a device he released at the time of Donda’s release last year.
Videos of the Stem Player were posted demonstrating the four “streams” of voice, drum, bass and music samples that can be altered while listening.
West, 44, said: “It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own.
“No one can pay me to be disrespected. We set our own price for our art. Tech companies made music practically free so if you don’t do merch sneakers and tours you don’t eat.”
Currently, the Stem Player has a live page and can be bought in the UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The artist, who legally changed his name to Ye, posted a track list for the album consisting of 21 titles written in capital letters.
