Kanye West locked out of Twitter and Instagram accounts over offensive posts

Kanye West has been locked out of his Twitter and Instagram accounts after posting messages deemed antisemitic by the social media giants' policies.

Spokesmen from Twitter and Instagram confirmed on Sunday that Kanye had violated their community guidelines and would therefore be unable to post on his accounts for the time being.

In a tweet the rapper posted on Saturday, he said he would soon go "death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE", according to internet archive records.

Now, there is a notice from Twitter in the tweet’s place that reads: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules.”

In the same tweet, which was removed by the social media’s monitors, he said: "You guys have toyed with me and tried to blackball anyone whoever opposes your agenda."

Kanye has been attracting a storm of bad publicity online through his numerous targeted tweets and Instagram posts and has also been widely criticised for wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt to the launch of his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week - and again at his daughter's basketball game.

On another occasion, the 45-year-old took to Instagram to post screenshots of text messages with Diddy in which Kanye suggested he was controlled by Jewish people, according to media reports.

It is not understood how long his suspension period will last, and while his accounts remain active, he is not able to post until the sanction period ends.

The move was made by Meta under its policies, which prohibit the posting of offensive language.

As a way to discourage this kind of behaviour online, Meta will sometimes place restrictions on accounts that it finds repeatedly breaking its rules.

The sanctions can include temporary restrictions on posting, commenting or sending direct messages.
