Many Kanye West fans were left scratching their heads believing he compared his split from Kim Kardashian to the death of QueenElizabeth II.
Her Majesty passed away earlier this month aged 96 and was reunited with her beloved husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, interred alongside him in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor on Monday, September 19, following a state funeral and committal service.
Following the monarch’s death, the rapper took to his Instagram Stories on Sunday (September 25) to tell the population of London he “knows how they feel”.
The 47-year-old wrote across a black background: “London I know how you feel I lost my Queen too.”
Moments after sharing his post, fans jumped to social media to debate just how much the situations could be compared, convinced he was referencing his split from Kardashian.
One fan criticised the potential comparison on Twitter, commenting: “Give it up, Kanye. Y’all was always going to end up divorced in the end anyway.”
“Kanye alternates between calling Kim a white supremacist and saying she’s his queen,” another posted.
A third wrote: “Kanye West Still Misses His Queen Kim Kardashian.”
Despite many jumping to the assumption that his comment was about the SKIMS founder, other fans believe the post was in fact referring to his mother, Donda, who died in 2007 aged 58.
A fan penned: “It’s so funny people thinking Ye is talking about Kim people are so damn slow Kim is not gone he’s talking about his mother Donda West.”
“Kanye is talking about his mom when he’s says he lost his queen. Y’all are so indecent tbh,” another shared.
Another wrote: “I hope he talking about his mama.”
The post comes less than a day after the rapper, who is now officially named Ye, had earlier uploaded a snap of his estranged wife, from whom he split with in February 2021.
Over the weekend, in the middle of uploads surrounding his latest fashion ventures, the star shared a snap of the Kardashians star, 41, looking spectactular in a silver Dolce & Gabbana two-piece with bleach-blonde hair.
He notably didn’t add a caption to his post, sending fans into overdrive once more about his motive to share.
