Kanye West fans fume as he announces Donda 2 will only be available on his own platform

Kanye West has revealed fans will only be able to listen to his new album Donda 2 on his own platform, the Stem Player.

The US rapper, 44, said it was time to "free music from this oppressive system", citing the small cuts made by artists for their work.

He revealed that the album, which is set to be released on February 22, will not be featured on platforms such as Apple, Amazon, Spotify or YouTube.

He took to Instagram to reveal the news to his 14.1 million followers.

Sharing was seemed to be a short clip from his new album, the artist - who legally changed his name to Ye - wrote: "Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube.

"Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own."

But the decision wasn't met with too much excitement as many fans slammed the fact his Stem Player costs £200.

Letting their displeasure known, one fan wrote: "And just like that I'm not listening nomo."

Another fumed: "bruh this ruined my night," while a third said: "For 200??? Imma just wait for the leaks."

A fourth was similarly unhappy and wrote: "Bruh I’m paying for Spotify Premium to listen to your music, don’t do this to me."

And a fifth exclaimed that his decision was "the last straw".

Kanye's decision also upset fans of the star who can't get a hold of the player in their country.

Currently, the Stem Player is available in the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, but some fans questioned how they will listen to it from elsewhere.

However, some of the star's loyal followers were more positive about his announcement.

One user simply wrote: "Genius," while another penned: "Let's gooo."

The post is currently the musician's only Insta post after he continued to wipe his recent outbursts.

The main target of his rants has been his estranged wife Kim Kardashian's new beau Pete Davidson.

The outbursts began at the weekend as the rapper hit out at the suggestion that Pete would become involved in Kanye and Kim's kids' lives.

On Thursday, Kanye hit out at previous skits by the comic who he's labelled "Skete".

He let rip at the 28-year-old while sharing a photo of Pete on Saturday Night Live in 2018, where he is seen wearing a Trump MAGA-style red cap on that reads: "MAKE KANYE 2006 AGAIN."

He angrily asked the star if he had any more jokes regarding mental health.
