Kanye West surprised fans on Wednesday when he put a photo of his former mother-in-law Kris Jenner as his profile picture on Instagram.

The 45-year-old’s social-media update appeared to be a peace-offering of sorts as he explained his reasoning behind the move on his Instagram Story, insisting he wanted to “change the narrative”.

He wrote across a black frame, “I posted Kris with thoughts of peace and respect. Lets change the narrative.”

Tensions between the rapper and the Kardashians have been fraught in recent years amid the breakdown of his marriage to Kim Kardashian.

Notably in July 2020, the Stronger rapper likened the matriarch, 66, to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un in an infamous Twitter rant.

He penned at the time: “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for ‘prison reform’. I got 200 more to go.

“This my lady tweet of the night… Kris Jong-Un Lil Baby my favorite rapper but won’t do a song wit me” (sic).

Then, earlier this month, he claimed that Jenner had coerced his ex-wife, 41, and Kylie Jenner, 25, to pose for Playboy on social media.

West wrote: “Don’t let Kris make you do Playboy like she made Kylie and Kim do. Hollywood is a giant brothel. Pornography destroyed my family.

“I deal with the addiction [and] Instagram promotes it. Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago” (sic).

However, it appears that West has had a change of heart towards the momager as he reportedly hired his sixth divorce attorney.

According to TMZ, Robert Stephan Cohen, who represented Melinda Gates in her $130 billion divorce from ex-husband Bill Gates, is now representing the star as he works on settling custody of their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, as well as property.

Since Cohen is based in New York, the site reported that the hitmaker has also retained Beverly Hills-based attorney Nicholas A Salick of Salick Family Law Group, APLC as counsel as his legal separation is being tried in Los Angeles.

Last month, Samantha Spector, West’s fifth divorce lawyer, withdrew from the case after two months due to an irreconcilable breakdown with the rapper.

Prior to Spector, the Grammy winner relieved attorney Chris Melcher of his duties in March.
