Kanye West banned from Instagram for 24 hours after racial slur

Kanye West has been temporarily suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after he used a racial slur in response to comedian Trevor Noah.

The 44-year-old musician, who recently changed his name to Ye, took aim at Noah on social media after the talk show host branded his behaviour towards Kim Kardashian “terrifying”.

A spokesperson for Meta told TMZ that West was facing a 24-hour suspension from Instagram because he had violated the policy on hate speech, bullying and harassment.

The rapper’s post has been taken down by the platform and he will be unable to post or comment on Instagram until the 24 hour period has lapsed.

West’s Instagram suspension came after Noah spoke in a segment on The Daily Show about West’s behaviour toward his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

In the show, he told the audience: “You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous... But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch and shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”

Reacting to the comedian, West shared a post on Instagram that featured a Google search of Noah alongside a racial slur before he was suspended from his Instagram account.

Noah also responded to West’s attack. He wrote: “You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain…

“Don’t ever forget, the biggest trick racists ever played on black people was teaching us to strip each other of our blackness whenever we disagree. Tricking us into dividing ourselves up into splinters so that we would never unite into a powerful rod.”

West has taken aim at Kardashian on several occasions since the couple split in 2021 after almost seven years of marriage.

Kardashian was declared single earlier this month during a Los Angeles court hearing amid their divorce proceedings.

Last month, Kardashian said: “I believe that the court terminating our marital status will help Kanye to accept that our marital relationship is over.”

Since her split from the rapper, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has become romantically involved with SNL star Pete Davidson.

The rapper has launched a number of scathing social media attacks on Kardashian and Davidson.
