Kansas State CB Ekow Boye-Doe to attend Chiefs’ local pro day

The Kansas City Chiefs will have draft-eligible prospects from Kansas City and the surrounding areas in the building for their local pro day on Thursday, April 6.

We’ve already heard about a few of the players who are set to attend, go through drills and meet with evaluators for the team. The latest is a Lawrence, Kansas native who attended college just a few hours west of Kansas City.

TopSpeed Strength & Conditioning’s Joseph Potts tells Chiefs Wire that Kansas State CB Ekow Boye-Doe is set to attend the Chiefs’ local day. This comes just a week after Boye-Doe performed at the Wildcats’ pro day in Manhattan, Kansas. He turned heads with a 40-yard dash with team hand-timed reports from 4.27s to 4.35s. He also posted a 37-inch vertical jump, a 10-3 broad jump and a 4.04s shuttle run.

The nearly 6-foot and 177-pound cornerback has started a whopping 35 career games for Kansas State over the past four seasons. While he never produced an interception during his career, he did have a penchant for getting his hands on the ball with 13 passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He’s also allowed fewer than 60% receptions into his coverage during his college career according to PFF. His tape is filled with physical plays where he competes using his length and speed.

During the course of the pre-draft process, Boye-Doe has been overshadowed by his K-State teammate Julius Brents. Outside of the clear height difference, the two seem to be quite similar from an athletic standpoint, which likely comes as no surprise to the K-State faithful who’ve watched them both succeed with the Wildcats.
