Oklahoma entered Saturday’s Big 12 matchup against Kansas with the goal of keeping its perfect season intact and picking up another win to build on its potential to play for a College Football Playoff national championship.
However, the Sooners’ dream of a perfect season came to an end when the Jayhawks pulled off the 38–33 upset at David Booth Memorial Stadium. Oklahoma (7–1, 4–1) took a 33–32 lead on a one-yard touchdown run from Dillon Gabriel with 5:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. Things looked bleak for the Jayhawks following an interception on its next offensive drive, but the Jayhawks’ defense registered a big defensive stop to put Kansas’s offense back on the field.
As a result, Jayhawks quarterback Jason Bean orchestrated a seven-play, 80-yard drive that was capped by a nine-yard touchdown run by Devin Neal, giving Kansas the 38–33 victory and the final touchdown of the contest. Fans inside David Booth Memorial Stadium stormed the field and tore down a goal post after the Jayhawks earned their first top 10 win in 15 years as well as their first top 10 win at home in four decades.

With the win, Kansas (6–2, 3–2) snapped its 18-game losing streak against Oklahoma in Saturday’s thrilling victory.
