Kansas City Royals' series finale with Tigers postponed. Game will be played in July.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sunday's Kansas City Royals game against the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium has been postponed and will be rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Monday, July 11, the club announced on Sunday morning.

The rescheduled game will be part of a doubleheader at Kauffman Stadium. The previously scheduled game will start at 1:10 p.m. and the originally scheduled game will follow at 7:10 p.m.

Tickets for the Sunday, April 17 postponed game will be honored for the rescheduled game, which will be Game 1 of the doubleheader on Monday, July 11. Fans do not have to exchange their original tickets if they chose to attend the rescheduled game.

The Royals (3-5) have a scheduled day off Monday. They'll begin a series at home against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.

Right-hander Carlos Hernández was scheduled to start on Sunday. He'll now start the series opener with the Twins on Tuesday.

Left-hander Daniel Lynch will start on Wednesday, and right-hander Zack Greinke will start on Thursday.
