The owner of the Kansas City Chiefs has expressed support for kicker Harrison Butker's decision to form a political action committee (PAC) aimed at encouraging Christians to vote for what the PAC terms as 'traditional values.' Butker unveiled his UPRIGHT PAC during the Chiefs' bye week through social media posts.
Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt emphasized the importance of players using their platform to make a difference, regardless of their political affiliations. The UPRIGHT PAC, prominently featuring Butker and Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley, aims to mobilize Christians to uphold traditional values at the ballot box.
Butker's venture into politics began with a commencement address at Benedictine College in May, where he made controversial statements about gender roles, Pride month, and abortion. The NFL distanced itself from Butker's remarks, asserting that they do not reflect the league's values of inclusion.
Meanwhile, the Hunt family has supported efforts to maintain a near-total ban on abortion in Missouri. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, has chosen not to endorse any political candidates, emphasizing the importance of informing people to make their own decisions.
Amidst political endorsements and comments from various figures, Mahomes reiterated his focus on family, community involvement, and treating others with respect. Despite external influences, Mahomes remains committed to living his life with integrity and using his platform to uplift others.
