TRIBUNAL: Essendon recruit Maddison Gay appears certain to be suspended for a high bump on St Kilda's Alice Burke in the Bombers' loss to the ladder-leading Saints on Sunday.
STATS THAT MATTER: 53 points. That was the unanswered run by Brisbane after Collingwood had kicked 1.2 to start the match. The Lions rattled off 7.11 to go from being 8-0 down to boasting a 53-8 lead by three-quarter-time. The Lions went on to win by 52 points.
TALKING POINT: Have the Demons lost their aura? A tight win over Geelong first-up has quickly been followed by two home losses to Brisbane and North Melbourne, with the latter a thrashing. Melbourne are injury-hit, but they have some work to do, too.
PLAYER OF THE ROUND: North Melbourne pair Ash Riddell and Kate Shierlaw were simply awesome against Melbourne. Riddell had 21 disposals and two goals in a half, then finished with 32 touches, while Shierlaw kicked a career-high five goals. Adelaide gun Danielle Ponter laid down her case with a wonderful performance to sink Hawthorn, kicking five goals to go with 22 disposals and five clearances.
