Kamaru Usman feels Conor McGregor was out of order for mocking his knockout loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 278.
Usman lost his welterweight title when he was brutally knocked out with a head kick from Edwards in the dying moments of their fight last month. The defeat was the first of Usman's UFC career as his 20-fight unbeaten run came to an end. McGregor, who has previously called out Usman, reacted to the fight by writing: "Mi no lika the boi no sleep dem man hahahaha t*** got t****ed," he wrote.
The trash talk didn't stop there as McGregor continued to goad his rival, adding: "Usman gonna come out saying he from Pluto after that smack hahah Marty green pants from Pluto." But Usman has now said the Irishman's comments were unnecessary given he didn't mock McGregor after his defeats by Dustin Poirier last year.

“Even when he broke his leg, I didn’t kick him when he was down," Usman said on The Joe Rogan Experience. "That’s a very tough injury. I almost felt for him. I almost wanted to send him a message and say, ‘Hey man, heal up, you’ll be back’. That’s just kind of who I am. This is a sport. At the end of the day, you’re still a human being. If I saw you on the side of the road and you needed help or something was wrong, if I could I would 100 per cent try to help.”
McGregor also weighed in on Usman's decision to have his daughter cageside for his knockout loss. Usman said he was heartbroken when watching his daughter's reaction to his defeat, which prompted McGregor to suggest that fighters shouldn't have their family in attendance when competing.
“I feel this deep," McGregor wrote. "I do not suggest bringing family whatsoever. Especially the children. This is different fighting. I’ve done both sides of this and feel going to the mission solo is best. You can see family again post battle. Will definitely be continuing this way going forward.” Despite McGregor's tweet being without malice, Usman took it as offensive and said he will continue to bring his daughter to his fights.
"Conor tweeted something, kind of blasting me for bringing her to the fight and this and that," Usman added. "He tweeted some mean things and it’s just like, ‘How low are people sometimes?’ Absolutely, I’m going to bring her. My daughter is not only going to see when Daddy is victorious, Daddy gets to beat everybody and Daddy gets to put her in the best school or wherever she wants to be."
