Kamala Mocks Trump for Referring to Himself as the 'Father of IVF' at Women-Only Town Hall: 'Donald Trump Is Increasingly Unstable'

Vice President Kamala Harris mockingly responded to former President Donald Trump calling himself 'the father of IVF' at a Tuesday rally.

At Tuesday's town hall hosted by Fox News in the battleground state of Georgia, the former President honed in on women's issues at the event attended by an all-female audience. He repeatedly brought up in vitro fertilization (IVF), referring to a fertility treatment that is threatened by abortion legislation in some states.

Trump took this opportunity to express his support for IVF treatments, even labeling himself as "the father of IVF."

"We really are the party for IVF," Trump told Fox News host Harris Faulkner "We want fertilization, and it's all the way, and the Democrats tried to attack us on it, and we're out there on IVF, even more than them. So, we're totally in favor."

Posting to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris commented on Trump's claims.

"Donald Trump called himself "the father of IVF." What is he talking about?" she questioned. "His abortion bans have already jeopardized access to it in states across the country—and his own platform could end IVF altogether."

She continued to respond to his claims on Wednesday when speaking to press.

"I'm going to say what I've said publicly and what I've said many times based on my observations. ... Donald Trump is increasingly unstable, and as has been said by people who have worked closely with him even when he was president, he's unfit to be president of the United States," she said.

Earlier this year, Alabama's Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos have the same rights as children, effectively allowing for fertility providers to be prosecuted if they were to destroy a frozen embryo. The ruling caused many fertility clinics to halt IVF services entirely.

While the Trump campaign has attempted to separate itself from the ruling, the Harris campaign has warned that this kind of legislation will be enacted should Trump emerge victorious in November.
