Vice President Kamala Harris is set to deliver the eulogy at the homegoing service for the late Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in Houston. Jackson Lee, a respected Democratic lawmaker who represented Texas’ 18th Congressional District since 1995, passed away on July 19 at the age of 74 after battling pancreatic cancer.

The eulogy by Vice President Harris is scheduled to commence at 2:20 p.m. ET, following which she will return to Washington. Additionally, Harris is slated to address a gathering of the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority, a part of the Divine Nine, a coalition of nine historically Black fraternities and sororities.
Earlier, Harris attended a fundraiser in Houston that successfully raised $2.5 million, as confirmed by a campaign official. The high-profile event underscores Harris' commitment to engaging with diverse communities and supporting important causes.
