Kamala Harris To Announce Running Mate In Philadelphia

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to make her first appearance with her Democratic running mate in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. The selection process has been kept confidential, with the intention of revealing the choice as close to the event as possible.

The search for a vice presidential candidate reached its final stages over the weekend at Harris' residence in Washington. She conducted interviews with three final contenders: Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, and Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona. Harris deliberated with her advisers behind closed doors for three consecutive days, away from public scrutiny.

As of late Sunday, it was unclear whether Harris had made a final decision. The plan was to announce the choice through an online message to supporters before the rally in Philadelphia, with the exact timing yet to be determined.

Four years ago this week, Joe Biden announced his selection of Harris as his running mate. He revealed his decision on August 11, 2020, via text message and email to his supporters. Harris aims to follow a similar approach, intending to generate excitement and engage a large campaign audience.

In a recent campaign email to supporters, Harris expressed her desire for them to be the first to know about her vice presidential pick. Supporters were encouraged to join an exclusive list to receive immediate notification when the news is made public.
