Kamala Harris gaining momentum among female voters, but not men, poll suggests

In a new CNN report, senior data reporter Harry Enten shared results from a new NYT/Siena College poll, showing how men and women are responding to Vice President Kamala Harris and why the Democrat seems to be gaining traction.

The polling shows Harris gaining momentum amongst female voters, but not with men.

As Enten went over the report, he pointed out how President Joe Biden had a four point advantage with women compared to Donald Trump. At that time, Trump also had a nine point advantage with men.

Now, polls show the gender gap working in favor of Harris with an 11 point advantage among women. Meanwhile, men have not changed their voting patterns, keeping Trump at that same nine point advantage among them.

"Women voters are flocking to the Democratic ticket," Enten said. "That is the reason Kamala Harris has turned this race around."

Those numbers included results on a national level, but when Enten covered swing states, the results were very similar.

In the battleground states – Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin – Biden previously held a 10 point advantage among women, while Trump held a 17 point advantage among men.

"The gender gap was working for Donald Trump against Joe Biden and now it's working against him against Kamala Harris," Enten said.

When it comes to Harris versus Trump, Harris now holds a 17 point advantage among women, while Trump's advantage among men slightly decreased to 15 points.

"The bottom line here is Kamala Harris is winning this race right now at least in these key battleground states because of what she's doing with women voters," Enten said. "Women voters are energized and it is the reason that Kamala Harris turned a deficit that Joe Biden had into a lead."
