Trump's comments at a gathering of Black journalists last month, where he questioned whether Harris is Indian or Black, were widely criticized. Harris, in fact, has a mixed heritage - her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, is Indian-born, and her father, Donald Harris, is Jamaican-born.
Donald Harris comes from a long line of family members in Brown’s Town, a market town in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica. Harris proudly acknowledges her roots in this town, which holds a special place in her heart.
Reflecting on her connection to Brown’s Town, Harris’s cousin Sherman Harris, who resides there, expressed deep emotions, saying, “Even talking to you now, I feel some sort of tears from my eyes too, you know.”
