The Kamal Adwan Hospital located in Gaza's Jabalya refugee camp is currently experiencing a severe shortage of vital supplies as Israel continues its bombardment of the strip. The hospital's director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, has highlighted the alarming challenges faced by the healthcare system, with essential items like milk and food rapidly dwindling.
Dr. Abu Safiya emphasized the urgent need for assistance, stating that the hospital is on the brink of a humanitarian disaster as existing supplies are depleting rapidly. This plea for help comes in the wake of reports that no food trucks have entered northern Gaza this month, further exacerbating the crisis.
Despite the dire circumstances, an aid convoy managed to deliver fuel to the hospital on Sunday, averting a potential shutdown of life-saving medical equipment. The Israeli military's intense campaign in the region has raised concerns, with the United Nations Human Rights Office warning of effective isolation of North Gaza.
In his address to the international community, Dr. Abu Safiya urged humanitarian organizations to intervene and establish humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of fuel, medical supplies, and food to the hospital. He stressed the critical nature of the situation and implored swift action before it is too late.
Meanwhile, the escalating violence has taken a heavy toll on the Palestinian population, with at least 40 individuals reported killed in overnight Israeli strikes across Gaza. Among the casualties were 17 individuals who lost their lives and several others injured in attacks on Gaza City and surrounding areas.
