Leeds stance on Phillips transfer
Leeds United are hopeful of keeping midfielder Kalvin Phillips for one more year despite interest from United. The Manchester Evening News revealed two weeks ago that United are working on a deal for Phillips - as they have prioritised a defensive midfield signing.
Leeds are planning for next season on the basis Phillips will be in their squad, but they are resigned to the England international eventually leaving. Phillips is about to change agents with the intention of securing a transfer after an impressive European Championship last summer.

Rangnick sends Haaland message
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has suggested United should target players with a similar profile to Erling Haaland in the transfer market. Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland, 21, is expected to join Manchester City in the summer when his €75million release clause becomes active.
City officials are understood to have visited Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, during negotiations. United attempted to sign Haaland for €20million from RB Salzburg when Rangnick was their sporting director in December 2019 - but the Norwegian instead chose to join Dortmund, where he has scored 82 goals in 86 games.
Rangnick confirmed that he will stay on as a consultant with United on a two-year contract, even though the 62-year-old has also accepted an offer to coach the Austria national team.
