Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has thanked Marcelo Bielsa for the impact he's had on him following the 66-year-old's sacking on Sunday morning.
The Whites have confirmed that they have parted company with the Argentine following three-and-a-half years in charge.
Phillips is someone who has improved drastically under Bielsa's stewardship, having established himself as a fully-fledged England international and a Premier League star.
With 17 caps to his name, Phillips was a mainstay in the Three Lions side that reached the final of Euro 2020 last summer and his form for club and country has seen him linked with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.
Bielsa has transformed the 26-year-old into one of the best midfielders in the division with his energy and hard-work in the middle of the park, but it's his technical ability that has arguably been his biggest flaw.
However, Phillips seemingly now has more composure to his game and that could be down to what Bielsa has done with him on the training field, allowing him to be better in possession.
There's no doubt Bielsa will live long in Leeds' legacy and Phillips has praised him in a heartfelt message on social media.
He said: "Thank you Marcelo for everything you have done for me. You saw in me what I didn’t even see in myself. You helped me grow as a player but most importantly as a person.
"Wishing you all the best in your next chapter. Gracias Marcelo. Vamos Leeds Carajo!!"
The 66-year-old has done a remarkable job at the Whites since taking change in June 2018, transforming the club's fortunes on and off the pitch.
In his first season, Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion after losing the play-off semi-final to Derby County.
But Bielsa guided the Whites to the Championship title the following campaign, securing a return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
During the club's return to the top-flight, Leeds finished ninth, earning the highest points tally by a newly promoted side since the 2000/01 season.
This campaign has proved to be difficult and the Whites has recorded just five Premier League wins which has led to Bielsa's departure.
