Kalvin Phillips mocks West Ham's £50m Raphinha valuation after Leeds United winger stars for Brazil

Kalvin Phillips has poked fun at West Ham’s reported £50m bid for Raphinha after the Leeds United winger netted his third goal for Brazil in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The Whites star played another key role for his country as they eased past Paraguay in Belo Horizonte. He initially opened the scoring after just a few minutes but VAR intervened to rule it out after a lengthy check.

There was nothing the officials could do to deny him a second time though as he sent an unstoppable effort inside Anthony Silva’s near post to put the five-time World Cup winners in front.

Raphinha ultimately limped out of the match with eight minutes left after being on the receiving end of a heavy challenge.

After the match, he took to Instagram and posted three images paired by the caption, translated as: “What an amazing night. Congratulations to all for the delivery and the match we made. Thanks for everyone’s support. We go for more, for much more.”

Ironically referring to the two £50m Deadline Day bids from West Ham, Phillips commented: “50 million they said” accompanied by a laughing emoji, eyes and flames.

The comment has seemingly since been deleted.

Phillips looks to be closing in on a return to action for Leeds after the club posted a picture of the midfielder in training on Wednesday afternoon.
