AMBALA: Upgrading the rail of Shatabdi Express New Delhi – Kalka (12005/06), the Indian railways have installed retro fitment of automatic door system in the train from Tuesday.
Ambala division senior divisional commercial manager Hari Mohan said that the main door of Shatabdi Express on the platform side will be opened upon the stoppage of the train and will remain open during the time of each stop.
He said the door will be automatically closed as soon as the train leaves the station.
"It is a new system, there is a possibility that passengers do not board the train before its departure, their co-passenger inside the train may resort to pulling the alarm chain. When the train is above 5 kmph, emergency push buttons provided inside and outside of the main door will be isolated and the doors cannot be opened while the train is running", said Hari Mohan.
He said in case of emergency, for opening of main doors, first the train has to be stopped by the alarm chain pulling, then the emergency push button can be pressed and the door can be opened.
Hari Mohan said that the passengers who travel in New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi Express are requested to enter/detrain before departure time.
