Kaley Cuoco is the latest next in a line of celebrities subtly tapping into some of 2023's most beautiful Christmas trends – this time in the shape (or rather, the color) of the ornaments on her tree.
While red, gold, and green ornaments may have shaped the way we decorate for decades, recent Christmas trend predictions suggest we are opting for a more monochromatic palette, starting with one of the most versatile hues we can choose: white. The actress's tree, inside her Hidden Hills home, pays homage to this aesthetic with its abundant use of white ornaments that juxtapose the dark green tree and the black curtains in the backdrop.
Naturally, there is no rule book for decorating for the holidays, so choosing a primarily monochromatic palette is a matter of preference. However, for those wanting to flirt with a less conventional Christmas hue this season, this is our cue.
If we weren't already inspired enough by Kaley Cuoco's holiday scene, Adele Gregson, an expert Christmas tree decorator and founder of The Christmas Company, also encourages us to follow suit.
'Say goodbye to red and gold. Teal, toffee, and monochrome are big trends this season, with more people favoring unusual colors over a traditional color palette,' she says.
'Decorating a Christmas tree is a special tradition that brings the true magic of Christmas into our homes. Recently, we've seen an increasing number of clients take a less conventional route when it comes to their choice of decorations.'
As Adele suggests, alongside new monochromic hues, there is a growing desire to showcase personality through Christmas decor, most specifically when it comes to the tree. Kaley similarly taps into this trend, most notably through the white 'P,' most likely standing as a nod to the surname initial of her partner, actor Tom Pelphrey.
'Whether that’s teddy bears, dinosaurs, or their favorite TV shows, people want to have more personal options that reflect their passions. Christmas is all about joy, and people want to inject fun and personality into their tree, giving it a distinctive look that feels unique to them,' she says.
'This is your Christmas tree, and it should feel that way. Choose unique ornaments that reflect your passions and interests. It doesn't matter whether that’s decorations inspired by your favorite music, TV shows, food, celebrities, or more. The personalization of baubles has also been huge in the past two seasons, with the family name or crest being an incredibly popular addition.'
For a Kaley Cuoco-inspired starting point, we're picking up these white decorations that will impress for many Christmases to come.
