Despite earlier discussions with Rogan's team, Vice President Kamala Harris will not appear on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which will feature former President Trump on Friday.
Speculation around a Harris-Rogan interview gained traction last week when Reuters reported the vice president's team was exploring the appearance to attract more male voters.
Harris campaign spokesperson Ian Sams provided an update in an interview with Chris Hayes on MSNBC. "We talked with Rogan and his team about the podcast," Sams said. "Unfortunately, it isn't going to work out right now because of the scheduling of this period of the campaign."
Sams assured audiences that "the vice president is happy to go anywhere and any place to talk to a broad segment of the country."
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump is set to appear on Rogan's show Friday, which has over 14 million Spotify followers. Trump's appearance aligns with his ongoing efforts to reach a wide audience, including Rogan's large base.
Trump has appeared on at least 20 podcasts this election season, whereas Harris has been on six, according to The Information.
Podcasts have proved a compelling platform to politicians this election cycle, with creators providing access to large audiences and interviews that generally lack the probing interrogation of debates or interviews with traditional journalists.
