Kai Havertz to undergo Arsenal medical with £65m move from Chelsea agreed

Kai Havertz is set to undergo a medical with Arsenal this week after agreeing a £65million move from Chelsea.

Arsenal are set to pay an initial £62m for the Germany international in a deal that will kickstart a £200m summer recruitment drive at Emirates Stadium.

Havertz has agreed personal terms with Arsenal over a long-term contract. The 24-year-old is on a summer break after playing in his final game of the season for Germany against Colombia on Tuesday, and Arsenal are working on the logistics of his medical.

The Gunners are ready to carry out medical checks abroad if needed, as they bid to wrap up their first signing of the summer.

Havertz has struggled at Chelsea since his £71m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 and has mainly been used as a centre-forward at Stamford Bridge.

But he joined Chelsea as an attacking midfielder and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confident that he can unlock his potential.

Chelsea have agreed to sell Havertz to their London rivals because they need to offload players to help balance the books and reduce the size of their squad.

Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson in a £30m deal and this week completed the £53m signing of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
