Arsenal are nearing an agreement to sign Chelsea star Kai Havertz in a huge deal this summer transfer window, if recent reports are to be believed. The 24-year-old looks set to leave the Blues after three years in west London, having struggled to consistently perform at the top level.
The forward was signed as a top prospect from Bayer Leverkusen and will most fondly be remembered for his Champions League-winning goal against Manchester City in 2021. Despite that, there may be a feeling of missed opportunity for both Chelsea and Havertz.
However, with just two years left on his deal, the Germany international may have faced a similar ultimatum to the rest of the squad, with an offer of a new deal or a potential sale to protect his transfer value. With interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, an exit looked possible, but wasn't pushed for by the player.
It isn't either of those two European giants he is set to join either, but rather London rivals Arsenal in a shock twist in the transfer market. football.london understands that the Gunners have a genuine interest in Havertz, but are not willing to reach the reported £70million valuation set by Chelsea.
While it yet to be seen when Arsenal will make their offer for the forward, Sky Germany reports that an agreement over a deal is "close". The personal terms appear to be advancing towards a complete agreement that would see Havertz make the switch very soon.

The only thing left is an agreement between the clubs, with a final offer being prepared by the Gunners that will be awaited for Chelsea's response. The report claims the total package will be worth £68million, though it remains to be seen how that would be split up.
Bayern Munich have been informed of the situation, but the talks with Arsenal are said to be too advanced and has caused the side to not pursue the deal any further at this stage. For both clubs, it could represent a huge deal, with the Blues recouping their transfer fee, while the Gunners acquire a talent who could still reach the very top.
