Kai Havertz stopped the same Chelsea story unfolding in the first half of their 3-0 Wolves victory in the first half.
Conor Gallagher, Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta all missed big first half chances against a manager-less Wolves side who were hell-bent on containing for most of the game rather than attacking.
All the probing and missing chances were a familiar story that unfolded on many occasions during the Thomas Tuchel era. However, Chelsea's number 29 was there at the right time to ensure that tale wasn't one that would last going into the half-time team talk- one that would have been manager Graham Potter probably lamenting the wasted opportunities.
Mason Mount, as he did in the Champions League final in Porto back in 2021, provided a brilliant assist from the right with a floated cross to the back post. One where the 23-year-old was able to rise like a salmon and loop his high header over Jose Sa and just under the crossbar.

Hakim Ziyech came on in the dying embers for the German, but Potter is starting to help Havertz re-find his mojo after it was slightly fading away during the latter days of Tuchel.
His own player rating on football.london read: 'The forward's looping header gave Chelsea their lead just before half-time and showed some nice combinations with Mount throughout the afternoon. His performance just lacked some polish for him to have really shined, but he did what he needed to. 7.'
The former Bayer Leverkusen man has now played up top and out wide under the guidance of Potter. Despite getting the nod over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for this game week 9 fixture, the player in question himself knows that the 'big squad' will be used to the benefit of Chelsea ahead of AC Milan on Tuesday.
He told BBC Sport post-match: "In general, I'm very happy. 3-0 is a good result in front of our fans. Good atmosphere and good game. It's always a great feeling to score. We needed that goal before half-time. It's good to go into the changing room at 1-0.
"We have a big squad, a lot of good players. We're all together in this. Today we had a lot of changes, but everyone is involved in every game. We have to be positive, even those who don't play. Armando gets a chance and scores straight away.
"Tuesday is the next one, a big game in the UCL. We have to recover well and go again."
