Kai Havertz's Arsenal debut scenarios with £65m summer transfer to be sealed after medical

As a Declan Rice transfer saga develops, one deal that Arsenal are very much on course to complete is that of Kai Havertz's move from London rivals Chelsea.

After seeing an opening offer rejected last week, the Gunners returned with an improved bid to reach an agreement with the Blues in a deal worth £65million (£60million plus £5million in add-ons) and it would appear that it's just a matter of time before the 24-year-old is officially unveiled.

In fact, an announcement could come as early as next week. This is because football.london understands Havertz's medical is due to take place, overseas, this weekend and if all goes according to plan, the Germany international will become Mikel Arteta's first signing of the summer transfer window.

From there, attention will turn to when supporters can see Havertz in action for Arsenal. Of course, his official debut could come in the Community Shield clash against Manchester City on August 6, but there are a number of pre-season fixtures pencilled in beforehand so he can build connections with his new teammates.

As things stand, the Gunners' opening warm-up game is against FC Nurnberg at Max-Morlock Stadion on July 13 as part of the club's training camp at Adidas HQ in Germany which would represent a homecoming for Havertz and a chance to pull on his new colours for the very first time.

Although, based on last summer's decision where the Arsenal players that featured for their respective national teams a few weeks earlier didn't make the trip, it's by no means that Havertz is guaranteed to be part of the travelling squad this time around having featured for Hansi Flick's side as recently as Tuesday (June 20).

If it turns out that Havertz misses the Nurnberg game then his uncompetitive Gunners debut is likely to come at some point during the United States of America tour in a month's time.

Arsenal kick things off in the States against an MLS all-stars team on July 20 before travelling to New York to take on Premier League rivals Manchester United a couple of days later before rounding off the tour by renewing an old rivalry with La Liga champions Barcelona on July 26.

With Havertz very much a versatile player, fans will get a glimpse during pre-season as to what Arteta has planned in an attempt to get the best out of the talented forward who has, admittedly, struggled for consistency following his move to Chelsea but could thrive in a new environment.
