In just 10 minutes, Kai Havertz doubled his Premier League goal total for the season.
Despite not offering much in the opening period, the Blues cruised past Burnley after the restart to emphatically ensure the three points would be returning to west London come Saturday evening.
Havertz's last league goal came against the same opposition in November, converting a Reece James cross. This time it was another header, a back post flick from a perfectly weighted Christian Pulisic cross to validate his start over Romelu Lukaku.
The German needs to continue his recent influence if he hopes to keep the £97m forward out and also start to produce his best form in the league, something he has largely failed to do since signing from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020.
As pointed out by Squawka on Saturday, no player has scored more goals for Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel took charge than Kai Havertz with 13.
One of the interesting things to note about the majority of his Premier League goals this season is how many have come from headers.
Apart from the scuffed back-heel finish from James' cross to score his second on Saturday, his other three league goals have come from his head.
Against Liverpool from a corner kick back in August, as already mentioned against Burnley in November and again on Saturday to double Chelsea's lead.
Two of those were also all created by James, the other Pulisic, a connection Tuchel will be aiming to grow further in upcoming games.
Looking at two of his goals outside the league this season continues the trend.
Nodding in from two corners, both assisted by Hakim Ziyech in the Carabao Cup and Champions League at the same end of Stamford Bridge from the same side notably.
One against Southampton in October's fourth-round win and the other against Lille in the first leg of the last 16 a fortnight ago.
Despite the praise over Havertz's more delicate skill and dribbling with his feet, the majority of his goals are coming from what you'd consider traditional centre-forward avenues.
Replace Havertz with Didier Drogba and all five of those headers this season would not have looked out of place coming from the legendary Ivorian.
It reflects the optimism around Havertz's new role as Tuchel's main forward, with Lukaku playing no part in Saturday's win in Lancashire, likely prompting questions over the Belgian's future.
This sort of finishing would have been expected from Lukaku at this point of the season but Havertz is quickly demonstrating suitable attributes to lead the line and add the needed goals to a profligate attack.
His last three performances against Lille, Liverpool and Burnley have all been impressive. Three goals in three reflect a stark improvement and his chance creation for others in the cup final demonstrated another side to his game.
When Chelsea travel to Carrow Road on Thursday, the 22-year-old will likely lead the line again and will hope James and even Hakim Ziyech could play a role, given both have provided him with the best service so far this season.
Although a lot of this season has seen Havertz drift through games, struggling to make an obvious impact, this growing trend can only spark hope that the £71m star can start to fulfil the high potential Chelsea invested in.
