Kahli Johnson has scored two goals in the space of three minutes to lift Western United to a 3-1 A-League Women victory over Central Coast in Gosford.

Johnson scored in the 57th and 60th minutes to break open Sunday's match, before Grace Maher made it 3-0 in the 87th minute with a wonder free kick.

Central Coast scored a consolation goal via Annalise Rasmussen in the 89th minute, but the day belonged to Johnson.

United's second-half onslaught began with a clever bit of work from Kiara De Domizio, who outpaced her opponent before delivering a pin-point cross for an unmarked Johnson to head home at the far post.

Three minutes later, Aimee Medwin unleashed a delightful long ball from her own defensive third to set Johnson on her way.

Johnson gathered the long pass, sprinted forward and then rounded goalkeeper Sarah Langman for an easy goal.

Maher provided the highlight of the match when her free kick from near the corner flag curled in for a goal at the near post.

Rasmussen pegged one back for Central Coast in the dying minutes, but the game had already been won by that stage.

The result marked a perfect response from Western United, who copped a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Western Sydney a week earlier.

The win catapulted the side from eighth to fourth on 11 points, while Central Coast (nine points) slipped to seventh.
