Kacey Musgraves is back in a big way. We've had her new song, Deeper Well, on repeat and are counting down the days until the release of her highly anticipated new album on March 15. However, she hasn't stopped with the music industry.
Now, the Grammy-winning country artist has built a scentscape to complement her music, and it comes in the form of a candle with indie scent boutique Boy Smells.
Kacey's second collaboration with the candle company (following the success of their first effort of the Slow Burn scent), the Deeper Well home scent, was made alongside Boy Smells co-founder Matthew Herman. The fragrance is described as containing 'earthy-gourmand' notes, including mushroom, beetroot, oakmoss, and damp patchouli, alongside relaxing eucalyptus.
This new album is an honest excavation of my own transformation the last few years,’ Kacey says in a press release. 'I’m emerging more centered, grounded, and trusting of myself than ever– and I knew that I wanted to create a multi-sensorial experience that cultivates self-discovery and our connection to the natural world. '
Kacey was heavily involved in the ideation process, ensuring the scent was aligned with her album concept. She and Matthew met with acclaimed fragrance houses in New York to develop the earthy, garden-forward scent.
'From our initial meeting in New York to crafting the fragrance, we shared constant feedback through text, voice memos, and video calls,' Matthew said. 'Every detail, down to the packaging, received Kacey's dedicated involvement. Just as in her music, fragrance becomes a deeply personal expression, and Kacey devoted her unwavering work ethic to bring this partnership to life.’
With spring (and Kacey's album) right around the corner, there's no better time than now to embrace this earthy spirit in the home.
Deeper Well by Boy Smells is available now on Boysmells.com and KaceyMusgraves.com and will be available worldwide at stores like Sephora and Nordstrom in April 2024.
