Kacey Musgraves Battled Strep Throat While Recording Hit Duet

Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves revealed in an exclusive interview that she was battling illness when she recorded the song 'I Remember Everything' with Zach Bryan. Despite feeling unwell with a sore throat and having recently returned from a trip, Musgraves accepted the opportunity to collaborate on the track. She pushed through her discomfort to meet the deadline, recording the song even though her voice was not cooperating due to strep throat.

Describing the recording session as 'sick as f--- literally,' Musgraves joked about her condition at the time. However, she was pleased with the outcome and grateful for the chance to work with Bryan, who had approached her with the song. The duet was released in August 2023 as part of Bryan's second studio album and went on to win the award for best country duo/group performance at the 2024 Grammys.

Musgraves, a seven-time Grammy winner, is gearing up for the release of her sixth studio album 'Deeper Well' on March 15. She has already shared the title track and the second single 'Too Good to Be True.' Additionally, she will embark on the Deeper Well World Tour, starting in Dublin on April 28 and spanning Europe, the UK, and North America before concluding in Nashville on Dec. 7.

For fans eager to learn more about Musgraves' experience recording 'I Remember Everything' and her upcoming projects, the full interview will air on NBC's 'Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist' on March 10.
