And as he received the much coveted Lifetime achievement award at the prestigious Venice Film Festival this year, Kabir looked his stylish best!
The veteran actor, who has an impressive body of work in Italy including the all-time favourite TV series 'Sandokan', was honoured on Saturday with the lifetime achievement award at Venice. For the special occasion, Kabir slipped into "A vintage Anna Singh Sherwani which I had refitted," Kabir told ETimes.
The stylish actor who turned 76 this year also said that he enjoys re-purposing and rewearing classic garments. "My wife (Parveen Dusanj) selected the outfits for my trip to Venice. She carefully matched and made combinations for me," he added.
According to Kabir, classic Indian garments can never be a one-time wear for him. Well, we love Kabir for making a serious case for sustainable clothing be repurposing something so special from his closet.
During his speech at the award ceremony, Kabir thanked Italians for giving him the lifetime opportunity of playing Sandokan.
Based on Emilio Salgari's novels, the television series began in 1976 and fired the Italian popular imagination, gathering a record 34 per cent audience share. It was followed by several subsequent series and films revolving around the character.
Bedi's early hits in Bollywood include 'Kuchhe Dhaage', 'Ishk Ishk Ishk' and 'Nagin' and he continues a prolific career in that industry. His career in the U.S. includes a long run on 'The Bold and the Beautiful' and roles in 'Dynasty', 'Murder, She Wrote', 'Magnum, P.I.', 'Hunter', 'Knight Rider' and 'Highlander: The Series'. He also played the lead in 'The Thief of Baghdad', having had prominent roles in 'Ashanti' and James Bond film 'Octopussy', as per reports.
