South Korean police confirmed the tragic passing of Lee Ho-yang, a well-known figure in the K-pop industry, on Friday. Lee, professionally known as 'Shinsadong Tiger,' was discovered deceased at his studio in Seoul. The authorities have not disclosed the cause of death at this time.
Reports indicate that a friend of Lee found him collapsed on the floor at the studio and promptly alerted emergency services. The 40-year-old composer and producer was celebrated for creating numerous chart-topping K-pop hits, including T-ARA’s “Roly Poly,” Apink’s “NoNoNo,” EXID’s “Up&Down,” and Momoland’s “Bboom Bboom.” In addition to his musical contributions, Lee founded AB Entertainment in 2011, which later introduced the popular girl group EXID to the industry.
Despite his professional success, Lee faced financial challenges in 2017 and sought bankruptcy protection and debt relief through legal channels. This development was reported by the Yonhap news agency. The untimely death of Lee Ho-yang follows a recent string of losses in the South Korean entertainment scene.
In December, the country mourned the passing of Lee Sun-kyun, a beloved actor renowned for his role in the critically acclaimed film “Parasite.” Lee Sun-kyun was discovered deceased in a vehicle in Seoul after a prolonged police investigation into alleged drug-related issues.
