Juventus Reviewing Arbitration Decision On Cristiano Ronaldo's Owed Wages

Juventus is currently in the process of reviewing a decision made by an arbitration court regarding a payment dispute with former striker Cristiano Ronaldo. The court had ordered Juventus to pay Ronaldo approximately €9.8 million ($10.46 million) in owed wages. Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, claimed that he was owed around €19.5 million ($20.81 million) in outstanding wages by his former club, stemming from a pay cut agreement made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement sent to Reuters, Juventus confirmed that the arbitration board had validated the compensation reduction agreement for the 2020/21 sporting season. The tribunal ruled that Juventus was liable for half of the amount requested by Ronaldo, resulting in the club being ordered to pay approximately €9.8 million to the Portuguese striker.

Juventus expressed that they are currently assessing the decision made by the arbitration board with the support of their legal counsel. The club stated that they are considering all options to protect their rights in this matter.

Ronaldo joined Juventus in August 2018 and played a key role in the team's success, helping them secure two consecutive Serie A titles, an Italian Cup, and two Super Cups. He departed Juventus in 2021 to rejoin Manchester United.
