Juventus given green light to complete Christian Pulisic transfer as Chelsea face £59m dilemma

Giorgio Chiellini has given former side Juventus his blessing to complete the signing of Christian Pulisic, with the Chelsea forward facing an increasingly uncertain future in west London. The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge this summer having fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel last season.

Pulisic, who sees his contract with the Blues expire in 2024, started just 13 of Chelsea's 38 Premier League fixtures this term, finding the net just six times. The United States international has often performed in moments and shown glimpses of magic, but he's struggled to sustain his high-levels over the duration of a fifty to sixty-game season.

Though, despite his fluctuating displays, he's courted the interest of Juventus. And, with Todd Boehly set to let Pulisic leave if he receives acceptable offers, Chiellini has given the Old Lady the green light to bring the American to Turin.

"Honestly, it's the first time I heard it, but I think Juventus needs some winger as Pulisic," the defender said, speaking in an interview with ESPN's Futbol Americas show. "Pulisic is very good, I think, when he starts from the side and comes inside, and with the injury of Chiesa -- he [will] surely still return, but not before September, and in the first months, surely he can play every game.

"With the [arrival] of Angel Di Maria, Pulisic could be the fantastic third winger for Juventus. He has improved year by year, he did a fantastic season in Chelsea."

While away on international duty last month, Pulisic revealed that he's 'excited' for what lies ahead at Chelsea under new owner Todd Boehly, but refused to commit his future to the club. And, refusing to be drawn into transfer speculation, though keen to set the record straight, the £59.3million-rated winger said: "As far as right now, I'm obviously just focused on what I'm doing here [on international duty], and I'm super excited to be here. And yeah, that's it.

"Of course, I want to get more playing time. I want to be on the field as much as I can and be the sharpest I can be and fit as well. I think I still got a lot of games. But it's always something that I'm working at and trying to be regular at club level as well to put myself in the best position to be fit when I come here with my national team."
