Juventus 'could raise £19.5m offer' for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino

Juventus are weighing up the possibility of increasing their 'bid' for Roberto Firmino, according to a new report.

Tutto Juve claim that Juventus 'presented' a £19.5m 'formal offer' for the Brazil international. But after it was met by 'doubts' in the Anfield boardroom, they suggest that the offer could be raised in the coming days.

The ECHO understands Liverpool have no appetite for allowing Firmino to leave during this summer transfer window.

Firmino is the final year of his Liverpool contract but made clear before the Champions League final in May that he wanted to stay with the club. He said: "I'm very happy here. I’m grateful to God that I’m here playing for a great club with great players, winning titles. And my will is to stay.

“My wish is to stay here. I want to be here. I’m happy here. So that’s all I can say, I want to stay.”

Firmino is no longer a guaranteed starter in Jurgen Klopp's line-up. The arrival of Diogo Jota, followed by those of Luis Diaz, in January, and Darwin Nunez, last month, has sparked sparked a rejuvenation of the Reds' frontline.

Firmino has been key to the success Reds boss Klopp has built since the German arrived at Anfield in October 2015. But while the 30-year-old found himself out of the team more than he was in it last season, he has returned to pre-season in good shape and form, suggesting he still has plenty to offer for Liverpool.

However, Firmino may have to adapt his role form the false nine to a number 10. With big-money signing Nunez expected to lead the line, there have been suggestions hat Klopp could look to shift from his usual formation of 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1 this season..
