Juventus have finalized the signing of Netherlands international Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, as officially announced by the club on Wednesday. The transfer deal, reportedly valued at €59 million ($65.6m), brings an end to one of the most drawn-out transfer sagas in Serie A during this summer transfer window. This move also fulfills one of head coach Thiago Motta's key objectives as Juventus aims to contend for their first Scudetto since 2020.

Koopmeiners has been a standout performer for Atalanta under the guidance of manager Gian Piero Gasperini ever since he joined the club based in Bergamo in 2021 from AZ Alkmaar. With an impressive record of 26 goals and 10 assists in 97 Serie A appearances, the midfielder has proven his worth on the pitch.

His significant contributions were notably evident during Atalanta's successful Europa League campaign, where he played a pivotal role in the team's journey to lifting the trophy. Notably, Atalanta secured their first major silverware in 61 years, defeating strong opponents like Liverpool and the previously undefeated Bayer Leverkusen along the way.

As the transfer negotiations progressed, Koopmeiners was absent from Atalanta's squad in their initial three matches of the season. Furthermore, he was unable to participate in his national team's Euro 2024 campaign due to an injury sustained just before the tournament commenced.

Since making his debut for the Netherlands in October 2020, Koopmeiners has earned 21 caps for his country, finding the back of the net twice during his international appearances.
