Juventus chief makes 'sad' admission about Cristiano Ronaldo situation at Manchester United

Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has admitted that he feels 'sad' to see Cristiano Ronaldo in a situation that is 'not pleasant for him or his team', with the Portuguese international remaining at Old Trafford despite expressing his desire to leave the club.

Ronaldo's future at Manchester United was widely speculated all summer after the Real Madrid legend told the club that he wanted to leave in search of Champions League football.

The Portuguese striker was linked with a number of clubs throughout the transfer window, with his agent Jorge Mendes having reportedly negotiated with Napoli over a potential move back to Italy.

However, Ronaldo failed to secure a move away from Old Trafford in the transfer window. He has started on the bench for Erik ten Hag's side in the last three matches, with United having triumphed over Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City in recent weeks.

While Juventus chief Arrivabene claimed that Ronaldo was 'no longer Juventus' problem', he did admit that he felt said about the 37-year-old's current situation.

"We said goodbye to Cristiano with great reciprocal respect a year ago, so what happened at Manchester United is no longer our problem,” he told DAZN.

"It’s sad to see him in this situation that is not pleasant for him or for his team, but again, that is no longer our business."

Ronaldo, who scored 101 goals and provided 22 assists in 134 appearances for Juventus, has started just one game for Ten Hag's men so far this season, and is yet to register a goal or an assist.
